Roberts Station Marker reads:
For several decades this area of Jones County was known as Roberts. Robertsville and later Roberts Station, in honor of Revolutionary War veteran Reuben Roberts, Sr., who had settled and made his home in the community. When the Georgia Railroad was constructed in 1883 and daily trains began traveling through Robertsville as they made their way form Macon to Athens. Soon a depot, which included a post office, was built and this community became a thriving center of commerce for this area of the County. This stop, soon named Roberts Station, would sit just southwest of this location. The stop would remain Roberts Station until after 1915 when it was renamed Postell, as it remains today.
