Bradley, a once thriving business community, was established on August 9, 1886, when the Central of Georgia Railroad came through that area of the County. Originally known as Franks, in honor of Wiley Franks, a prominent landowner in the area, its name was changed to Bradley in Honor of John Wiley Bradley, Jr., a railroad agent and son-in-law of Wiley Franks. The depot was operated by Br. Bradley until those duties were turned over to Joe Burney.
John W. Bradley and Allen Wheeler gave the right-of-way for the construction of the railway and in return their families were given passage on the train. The town was laid off into lots and the Bank of Bradley was established in 1920. The town was home to a cotton gin, peach packing, a horse race track and numerous businesses. The first County Fair was held in Bradley.
